What Writing About Objetiv In My Resume Means

What Writing About Objetiv In My Resume MeansIf you're wondering what writing about objective in my resume means, then this article is for you. Specifically, I want to talk about using objective in your resume. Most of us write about matters in English grammar and structure. We take our time to get the point across, maybe using a few sentences here and there. It's easy to become lazy when it comes to writing about objective. It seems like we can use as many words as we want, without really getting into the meat of the matter. But if you continue to do this you won't fall asleep when you're trying to get a job or your resume will be confused and have a bad flow. There are too many words that are not important to the writer. So, what is the objective? In this day and age, we use objective to signify writing about any object we don't use in the sentence we're writing about. To illustrate, let's say you're writing about a person, 'He/She/They' because the person in the sentence may not be ide ntifiable. You have a job that requires you to recruit people, so you use objective in your resume to indicate you've worked with people.Just like you can use objective to describe a person, you can also use it to describe a group of people, like a team or an organization. 'He/She/They' could be about a group of students in the school, a group of employees in a company, or a team of artists. The rule here is simple, write about anything other than the thing you're not using in the sentence.Do you know what the best example of an objective is in this day and age? It's that little sentence in the middle of your resume. That's how most people want to begin their resumes. What you're going to want to do is look at all the different subject headings and paragraphs in your resume. Most people leave off the important stuff, such as the objective and the summary. This is where you need to focus your attention to make sure you don't do this. You need to find the most important information abou t you and then put it in the first two sentences of your resume. Put the objective and summary in the first paragraph and the first sentence in the rest of the sentence.Don't worry about other things being included in your resume; just find the subject heading that best fits all the different groups of information that you want to include. That sentence is the objective in your resume.I hope you've found this article helpful in understanding what writing about objective in my resume means. Then you're going to be able to use it to write about any object you don't mention.

The 3 Odds-Boosting Steps to Landing an Internship The 3 Odds-Boosting Steps to Landing an Internship In the present economy, there's a great deal pressure on universities and their profession habitats to help improve understudies' odds of getting temporary jobs and openings for work. As indicated by a piece in The Atlantic from 2012, in excess of 50 percent of late graduates are either jobless or underemployed. In what capacity would applicants be able to support their chances of landing entry level positions? Nathan Parcells, organizer and head promoting official of InternMatch, recommended these means: 1. System, arrange, network. Before you hit the submit catch, fabricate or expand a relationship with an insider at each organization where you apply, particularly enormous Fortune 500s. Experience shows that competitors who are alluded for circumstances are bound to win the chance to meet for employments. Interface with companions, educators or family systems to see who knows somebody at your organization of decision. You'll be amazed at how associated you are, Parcells says. Another smart thought is to utilize LinkedIn's Instruction device, which permits you to see contacts who joined in or graduated from your school or college. It's a mix-up to expect that somebody who has something in a similar manner as you or who alluded you will naturally need to make time to see you. Ideally, sharing a graduated class association or common companion will move individuals to need to make a special effort to support you, yet never expect that is the situation. A superior methodology? Utilize internet based life to study new expected contacts. LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Google+ all furnish staggering approaches to interface with and become acquainted with individuals you don't as of now have the foggiest idea. Try to evade cold reaching anybody. How might you utilize internet based life to pursuit of employment? Warm up your leads by becoming more acquainted with individuals on the web. For instance, join bunches where your potential contacts partake and add to the discussion. Ask and answer inquiries so individuals will see you and recollect your name. At that point, connect with a particular request. A valid justification to utilize internet based life is the pool of contacts who effectively utilize these instruments will in general be increasingly open to systems administration. At the point when individuals tweet up a tempest or connect routinely in gatherings, you can accept they acknowledge chances to arrange and might be bound to consent to talk with you than another person who doesn't utilize online networking. 2. Assemble a simple to-discover online nearness. The materials you submit to a business online are only a bit of what most managers use to assess you, Parcells says. By far most of businesses will utilize Google to assess candidates before mentioning meeting. Setting aside the effort to manufacture a solid online nearness that represents your mastery will help increment your odds of landing meetings and openings. A solid online profile should give some character, Parcells says. It ought to have connections to tasks and work you have done to give bosses more substance about you to investigate. He additionally recommends you utilize a similar symbol on the entirety of your online profiles to help keep up a steady brand. 3. Development. In the event that you truly need the activity, remember to catch up after you apply. With numerous businesses getting a huge number of uses for places that have only a couple of openings, the opposition is firm, Parcells says. Numerous up-and-comers don't get chose essentially on the grounds that they lose all sense of direction in the clamor. He proposes you catch up with a short, directed note around 10 days subsequent to applying, except if a job has a particular application cutoff time, in which case you should hold up until after that date before checking-in with managers. Express your solid enthusiasm for the position and emphasize why you are a decent match dependent on the set of working responsibilities.

Outstanding Women Lawyers Conference Set For June 6

Developing the Next Generation of Rainmakers Outstanding Women Lawyers’ Conference Set For June 6-7 Each year I host outstanding women lawyers I have coached or know. This year the group will gather in Fort Worth, the 16th largest city in the US,  on June 6-7. (I suspect there may be a trip to BillyBob’s Texas on Friday evening.) On Saturday morning, our program will include a workshop on Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. Are you wondering what drawing has to do with practicing law? Everything: It is not learning how to draw. Instead, it is learning how to see relationships many lawyers miss. See this blog post:  Lawyering on the Right Side of the Brain. I wrote about it earlier this year:  What Skills Can You Work on in 2014? Last year I posted a blog with the highlights from the event. I wanted to share that post with you again. As you know from my blog: I recently hosted the second annual Outstanding Women’s Lawyers’ Roundtable. It was great fun for me and for Nancy, and thanks to Cindy Pladziewicz for working with me and thanks to Joyce for making it all come together. I recently received an email from Tricia DeLeon with her takeaways. I asked Tricia if I could share it because the ideas are good for any lawyer to consider. Thank you for another great roundtable this year. I get energized just being in the same room with so many inspiring and accomplished women. It was also nice to see some familiar faces from last year. I look forward to expanding the program next year. TexMex with the Canadians would be fun the night before the program. I also would keep the golf clinic on the agenda. Nancy set us up with a wonderful and patient teacher! In order to hold myself accountable to act on what I learned, I wanted to tell you what my takeaways were. I appreciate you both. Cordell, I’ll see you in two weeks for a coaching session! Tricia Tricia recently shared her thoughts about the conference: I hope you will consider coming to our 2014 conference, where you will have the chance to meet other US and Canadian lawyers with whom I have enjoyed working. The energy is contagious. Have you got what it takes to pursue a career in the area of clinical research - Viewpoint - careers advice blog Viewpoint careers advice blog

Have you got what it takes to pursue a career in the area of clinical research - Viewpoint - careers advice blog Research and development (RD) has always been at the heart of the pharmaceutical business. So it should come as no surprise that pharmaceutical roles which are related to clinical research â€" for example, those in regulatory affairs, drug safety, clinical trial and data management â€" are moving and evolving as the industry continues to embrace radical change.   Whether you are already in clinical research or looking to break into it, it’s worth assessing the skills that are needed, both current and emerging. That way, you can take the necessary actions to optimise your chances of gaining and sustaining employment in this fundamental and exciting field of work. Today’s clinical talent needs There are obvious skills that go with the territory of being a scientist â€" critical thinking, deductive reasoning and attention to detail. But in today’s clinical research environment, with an increasing number of company restructures, advances in scientific understanding, changes in business practices and the advent of ‘Big Data’, there are other desirable skills that have made it onto employers’ wish lists. Are you good with IT? Do you have management skills? An understanding of government processes? Excellent presentation skills? All have the potential to move you to the top of the list for a sought after position in clinical research. Could you be a regulatory affairs professional? A solid understanding of business and finance may put you ahead of the competition Regulatory affairs (RA) professionals are responsible for ensuring that companies follow demanding legislation and regulatory standards for providing safe and effective medicines. Aside from a formal education in science or medicine and a passion for documents and detail, RA professionals must understand every stage of the product life cycle and the regulatory implications of each. Excellent written and communication skills, for the many exchanges of information with senior level management, are a ‘must have’ for RA candidates. Increasingly, such exchanges are happening at the multinational level, so languages are helpful, too. And since regulatory conditions affect business outcomes, a solid understanding of business and finance may put you ahead of the competition. Considered working in drug safety? Drug safety experts, at grass roots level, are responsible for the fielding and processing of adverse event reports for drugs in the marketplace. It is their job to understand the risks associated with medicines and to make this information generally available. Like the RA professional, drug safety experts need to understand legislation and regulatory standards, while overseeing pharmacovigilance (PV) processes. Business acumen is a distinct advantage in the PV arena. A candidate with commercial skills has the potential to improve a company’s understanding of the risk-benefit of certain medicines and therefore boost the bottom line.  Is a Clinical Research Associate position for you? Evidence of being a motivated self-starer may attract employers attention The main responsibility of a Clinical Research Associate (CRA) is to monitor the progress of clinical trials. This usually involves visiting sites to ensure that protocols are being conducted in compliance with good clinical practice guidelines. CRAs have highly diverse, visible positions. Mature interpersonal skills are key, to enable them to work well with the staff at the various sites they visit. Being friendly, professional, knowledgeable, punctual and accessible, combined with a ‘checklist’ mentality, are good fit attributes for this type of position. As CRAs principally work from home, evidence of being a motivated self-starter may attract employers’ attention.  How about clinical data management? Clinical data managers are responsible for ensuring that statistical information and results from clinical trials are recorded accurately, and for maintaining the integrity and security of complex data systems. Expertise with IT, software systems and generally handling large volumes of data is therefore essential. A willingness to perform general clerical duties, which may include data entry or collating library searches, may also be required. A good understanding of management principles, as for all positions in clinical research, may position hopeful candidates well. What to do if you’re light on skills If you’re keen to pursue a career in clinical research, but are lacking in certain skills, it would pay to work towards acquiring or developing them. Fortunately, many skills are transferable, so you don’t necessarily have to gain them in a clinical research setting. Look for courses, locally or online, in subjects like IT, business management and aspects of communication. You might also look at applying for temporary positions in your field of interest, or taking on voluntary work for a limited period. Envision a scout filtering through a heap of resumes and-aha! - one has a splendid neon pink paper joined to it. Wouldn't you say the person would be slanted to get it? My anxiety about this 'continue added substance' originates from our mechanically determined society. Most organizations have changed over to online work applications. Indeed, even retail, food and drink, and client care industry bosses, for example, Wal-Mart, TGI Friday's and assortment office iQor, utilize online applications in the spot of paper structures. Numerous organizations additionally permit candidates to apply utilizing their LinkedIn accounts. How viable can a site like Application Bling truly be as far as the current condition of occupation chasing? The guidelines of what you ought to and ought exclude from your resume additionally represent a worry for me when seeing this device. You're frequently encouraged to overlook certain things from your resume, for example, a photograph, extravagant textual style types and hued text styles. Shading is huge with regards to resumes-or the absence of shading I should state. A white foundation with dark text style gives a cleaned, straightforward and proficient intrigue. This is the reason you don't regularly observe a resume on shaded paper. However, the bling in Application Bling is a neon hued decal. It's not the whole resume, however does including that sprinkle of shading, even somewhat, remove its expert appearance? As a vocation searcher, you're continually searching for approaches to stand apart from the a great many different candidates. I believe Burton's idea of rapidly causing a recruiter to notice a resume by concentrating on key focuses (also the splendid hues) is brilliant. Once in a while the greatest undertaking is getting an employing administrator to try and take a gander at your resume and added bling makes certain to draw their consideration. However, I'm not persuaded this is the most significant part; keeping an enrollment specialist's consideration is the key. You can include some bling and make your resume eye getting, yet it should be the substance underneath that makes you stand apart from the rest. As the truism goes: All that sparkles isn't gold.Master the craft of shutting arrangements and making situations. Take our Recruiter Certification Program today. We're SHRM affirmed. Email Job-Hunting Tips The Right and Wrong Ways To Use Email to Find a Job

Email Job-Hunting Tips The Right and Wrong Ways To Use Email to Find a Job Since most presentations occur over email, it's sheltered to state that email correspondence has become as significant as or much more significant than composing introductory letters. Considering this, here are my best five hints for imparting adequately over email: Be amazingly responsive. At the point when somebody acquaints you with another get in touch with, it's basic that you follow up right away. In the event that you had a telephone discussion or an in-person meet, send a thank-you email when you get off the line or leave the structure. Try not to stress over seeming to be frantic or dreadful; this isn't a date. Regardless of whether the official takes a couple of days to react, or doesn't react by any means, the individual in question will be intrigued on the off chance that you react right away. Focus on the headline. The assignment of your email's title is to trigger a motivation that makes the beneficiary open the email. Your headline ought to be alluring and express what your identity is and what you are expounding on. In some cases it is fitting to incorporate your name, and different occasions your school or association or who alluded you is the better approach. Here are a few models: Sarah Smythe Following Up on Ian McEwan's Introduction Indiana Student Interested in Learning progressively about the Marketing Services Industry ESPN Internship Application â€" Douglas Spector Middlebury Student Seeking 10 Minutes To Talk About McKinsey â€" Referral from Barry Rosenberg Start by clarifying the event for your message. The primary line of your email will fluctuate, however regardless of the circumstance, your initial line ought to clarify why you're reaching the beneficiary. Here are some first rate models for a scope of situations: In the event that you've had no past contact: I trust this note contacts you cheerful and great wellbeing. I am connecting with you with the expectations of getting familiar with the clinical diagnostics industry by and large and Medtronic explicitly. If you've had one past contact: Thanks again for our discussion two or three weeks prior. I followed up as you proposed and discovered three or four explicit objective organizations with conceivably pertinent situations to apply to. Might we be able to interface on the telephone for 7 to 10 minutes (most extreme) so I can get your contribution about these chances? If you were alluded by an outsider: I trust you are having an incredible end of the week and this doesn't get you at a badly designed time. I was talking with my uncle Ken, and he disclosed to me that you direct your association's retail practice. I am extremely keen on investigating a vocation in retail and design, and I trust you would be the ideal individual to converse wit h. Keep it short and simple on-the-eyes. A great many people don't have the opportunity or ability to focus to peruse an email that is longer than 10 lines. Accept that the beneficiary will peruse it on their cell phone (while performing various tasks). Make it smart. Build up what your identity is and what you need in the initial two sentences. Compose your email in at any rate 11 or 12 point textual style with the goal that the peruser doesn't need to put on their understanding glasses. Try not to lose your cool. Odds are, you will contact individuals who are occupied. New messages don't bring them euphoria; they make them on edge, and your email will include the tally. So on the off chance that you haven't heard back from somebody, or on the off chance that they've sent you a not exactly warm reaction, it doesn't imply that they despise you or don't believe you're sufficient. It doesn't mean the discussion is finished. As a general rule, the beneficiary is only reluctant to add a startling errand to the heap. Try not to be reluctant to keep connecting. Locate the correct recurrenceâ€"maybe once at regular intervalsâ€"until your contact answers with a subsequent stage or discloses to you they aren't intrigued. That being said, don't really check the individual or organization off your objective rundown. Simply express gratitude toward them for their time and think of them as dormant until further notice. You may attempt them again in a couple of months, or they may turn into a significant contact for you years after the fact in your profession. Most Dangerous Tribes in the World

Most Dangerous Tribes in the World Home Amazing world Most Dangerous Tribes in the WorldAmazing worldMost Dangerous Tribes in the WorldBy Srinivas Konda - November 16, 2015283500Facebook Earth is a great place to live. Though humans are moving ahead with the advance in technology, there are few people who are stuck in forests. Forest tribes still exist all over the world. These people are not aware of the modern world. Still they are far away with the basic needs that we get today. They don’t have proper food to eat, they depend on fruits and animal meat, they don’t have electricity and still depend on sunlight and fire at night. They don’t have clothes and prefer to wrap themselves up with leaves. Though few nature lovers try to educate them and want to bring them to the present there are few tribes who do not want to interact with the modern people. Let’s have a look at some Most Dangerous Tribes in the WorldCaribs Contents hide 1 Caribs 2 Aztec 3 Native Americans? 4 Fiji 5 Karowai Have you ever heard of cannibals? They are people who eat human meat. There are still people living in parts of Caribbean islands who practice cannibalism. As this tribe habituated to do cannibalism, these are referred to as Caribs. These are the first group of people in the world to practice cannibalism. Till date it’s a debate but many of them say that they have evidence of Indian tribes practicing cannibalism in America. In 1768, a priest from Spain came to witness the activities of this tribe. The tribes caught a victim and cut his throat, tore his skin and cut pieces of flesh and ate it in front of the priest.FijiFiji today is one of the most tourist attraction places in the world. But this was not the scenario a couple of centuries ago. Cultural cannibalism was spread in areas of Melanisia, Sebagai and Polynesia. A group called seorang has admitted that they have consumed 785 people and claim that they are very proud of doing the same.KarowaiKarowai are the tribes residing in Indonesia. These tribes are usually found in Papua. They usually eat their own tribe member whom they suspect of being a witch. They usually eat them in a state of brain warm. 2013 Shaping Up as Great Year For Career Move! - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

2013 Shaping Up as Great Year For Career Move! - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career Editor’s Note: This blog is a modified excerpt from professional “headhunter” and bestselling job-hunting book author Skip Freeman’s next book in the “Headhunter” Hiring Secrets series of job-hunting books, Career Stalled? Publication is scheduled for early 2013. ________________________________________________________ While I am certainly not a prophet, the facts strongly suggestâ€"with a high degree of probabilityâ€"that 2013 could be THE YEAR to seriously consider making your next career move. How can that possibly be? you might be asking yourself. Isn’t there still considerable turmoil, trouble and economic uncertainty not only in our own country but around the world as well? Well, yes, there is, but there are also a LOT of very positive developments today, and many of these developments are expected to accelerate as we enter 2013. Let’s consider just a few of them: While the news media consistently focus largely on the number of new jobs created each month, rarely if ever do they focus on a fact such as this: So far in 2012, over four million jobs have been filled each and every month of the year. (Coincidentally, millions of other jobs go unfilled month after month, primarily because of a chronic disconnect between the qualifications of potential employees and the qualifications required for the open positions.) After being in the doldrums for a number of years, the housing market has apparently “bottomed out” and is finally starting to get back on track. Home prices in a number of key geographic areas of the country are starting to creep back up, resulting in a steady reduction in the numbers of homeowners who have been “under water,” i.e., they owe more on their homes than the fair market value. We are also seeing increases in both the number of building permits and new housing starts. Mortgage rates are at historic lows. We are also seeing an energy boom. Where once we were nearly totally dependent upon foreign oil, it is estimated that, by 2020, the U. S. will produce more oil than Saudi Arabia! Many companies that have been making-do with far fewer employees for the last several years, while fattening up their bottom lines, are really beginning to feel the pressure to add new employees to meet the steadily increasing rate of new business in some key business sectors, e.g., manufacturing, technology, et al. Hiring still remains relatively slow, but unlike just a few years ago, real companies today have real jobs that they need to fill, and provided business continues to grow, the pace can be expected to pick up considerably through 2013. After a number of years of debt deleveraging, i.e., reducing or eliminating the practice of borrowing money to acquire assets, both individual households and businesses are once again, at least tentatively and still cautiously, moving back into the credit markets, thereby providing a much-needed stimulus for the overall economy. And because consumer spending is far and away THE most important driver of the overall economy, this development has HUGE potential! All of these developments of course have one very important thing in common: They all produce jobs! For example, for every new home built three new jobs are created. As a result of the energy boom, 1.3 million energy related jobs are expected to be created between now and 2020. Because sizeable numbers of households have been cleaning up their own “balance sheets” for the last several years, by reducing (or eliminating) unmanageable debt, many are now in a far better position (and frame of mind) to buy new vehicles, make home repairs or remodel, take vacations, as well as to make many other necessary (or even “discretionary”) purchases. The result of this increased consumer spending? You guessed it, more new jobs! Time to Look at the ‘Forest,’ Not Just at the ‘Trees’ Have you been keeping up with these recent business and economic developments/trends? Are you even aware of them? Chances are, you may not be. Why? Because, if you are like so many currently employed people, you probably have been so busy these past several years looking at the “trees” that you felt you really didn’t have the time to even consider looking at the “forest”! Well, now would be a good time to start doing that. Are you dissatisfied with your current job, maybe even considerably dissatisfied with it? Would you really like to change your situation, but aren’t quite sure how to go about accomplishing that goal?* Are you among those currently employed men and women who remain somewhat “shell-shocked” as the result of work experiences during the last several years, e.g., watching friends and colleagues lose their jobs, doing the work of two or more people with little or no additional compensation and/or genuine appreciation from your employer? Are you sick and tired of being told how ‘lucky” you are to still have a job? Are you still “keeping your head down” and not even considering the improvedâ€"and improvingâ€"career opportunities that are right now  before your eyes? If any part(s) of the preceding paragraph describes you and your current career situation, then 2013 could definitely prove to be the year you can begin to turn things around for yourself and your career! But you must make sure you are adequately prepared, that you have properly branded yourself to be seriously considered for the genuine career opportunities that either now loom or soon will be looming on the job market horizon. In future blogs throughout the remainder of this year and into the next, I will be discussing tactics and strategies you can utilize to create and maintain the type of professional brand you will need to effectively compete for future career opportunities. In the meantime, I would love to hear from you and learn about your experiences in today’s job market, as well as about your plans for the future job market. Control Your Future - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

Control Your Future - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career Let others lead small lives, but not you. Let others argue over small things, but not you. Let others cry over small hurts, but not you. Let others leave their future in someone else’s hands, but not you.     Jim Rohn I love the last line of this quote, we should not leave our future in someone elses hands. It reminds me of a meeting I attended when  an executive posed an interesting perspective about the concept of job security.  He stated that job security is dependent on either the employer or the employee. Either one feels his/her employment prospects are tied to the health, and sometimes whims, of ones current employer or one believes he/she has marketable skills and thus can find work outside of ones current situation. If one feels that his/her job security rests with the employer then the employer has all the power in the relationship. The employee is subject to the development opportunities provided by the employer, raises given by the employer, the advancement options offered by the employer ones career options are dictated by the opportunities presented by the employer. If one feels that his/her job security rests within ones own control one is talented and has developed the requisite skills and network of contacts to take his/her talents to another organization the power rests in the hands of the employee.  If an employee experiences an inability for advancement due to a personnel logjam or management issues, he can opt to take another job at another organization. If an employee experiences dissatisfaction at development opportunities or compensation, she can opt to leave the current organization and find a new opportunity. Believing your job security rests within your own control is a very powerful stance to assume when managing your career.  To truly have the power in the relationship, you have to be confident in your abilities and be willing to leave if a better opportunity presents itself.  I have witnessed several individuals where the power of job security rests within their control two common traits among these individuals are an understanding and ability to communicate who they are (their brand) and being entrepreneurial in nature (willing to take a new path when presented). While they may not run their own businesses, they approach their careers as if they were launching a business by trying to find a niche that they can meet for a client.  In a sense, they themselves are the business in which is being launched and thus they need to develop a strong brand that will communicate who they are and what they can offer potential employers. Food for thought are your job prospects bound by your employer or by you?  If it is the latter, then you need to take charge of owning your career.  This means you are responsible of your development. You are responsible for your advancement. You are responsible for developing a network that will allow you to grow and act upon opportunities as they arise. 5 Ways to Make Your Business Cards Destroy the Competition

5 Ways to Make Your Business Cards Destroy the Competition Business cards cant improve your small talk or retract your mistimed jokes, but they can leave a lasting impression with a work associate.  As  cute  as your Twitter handle might  be, your contact  information is meaningless  if  poorly presented. Your business card should stand out from your competitors,  convey your skills and the overall image of your business. Here are Undercover Recruiters  five key ways of making your cards reflect your captivating personality,  skills and experience: 1. Choose the right printing company: Everyone has their favourite service. Do your homework on a printing company before spending your precious cash. Nothing is  worse than paying for  cheap-looking, flimsy business cards. Two popular  examples of business card printing companies are Moo  and CardsMadeEasy. Look  at  reviews of services  to confirm if they  suit your needs. 2. Be creative: Some of the best business cards think outside of the box. A great first impression is one that conveys  a creative mind. Going  crazy with materials, embossing and interactive elements  make cards memorable. Cards formed in non-traditional shapes get attention. Shapes can emphasise a specialty, such as a game developer with a business card with the appearance of  a  game controller.  Adding a QR code to a  business card can act as a hyperlink to  a  personal blog or company site. If  youre struggling with creative ideas for your business card, search online for inspiration. Theres even edible business cards out there! 3. Quality is everything: Traditional thin paper business cards from your 1997 Canon printer  will fail to impress  and  get  ruined quickly. Basic  cards get thrown away more often. Doing your research on companies and making sure the materials chosen are correct  is vital to making sure the selected quality matches your needs. Treat your  business card as an  expression  of you. Choose materials, designs and colour that will make your card stand out. 4. Use common sense: Your business card should not only reflect you but your business. Refer to all the business cards you receive and imitate elements of  the cards you find inspiring. Your company logo should be the biggest element on the card to grab attention. In terms of information, less is more. Include  essential information, such as name, title, company name, email address, phone and social media usernames. Use three colours max to keep consistency  in  design. 5. Make sure you proofread! Get  your literate, stylish  colleague  to check your business card for errors and design, then ask  their trusted comrade  to check. Nothing looks as unprofessional as  an unnoticed typo. Some recommended techniques for proofreading are reading aloud and reading backwards (good for finding  grammatical errors). Keeping information to a minimum not only keeps business cards looking stylish but reduces the risk of error. What kind of business cards do you have? Let us know in the comments below.

When Job Costs Outweigh the Pay

When Job Costs Outweigh the Pay When Job Costs Outweigh the Pay Jobs costs can sink you. Seems like I have heard from several people lately seeking advice about what to do when a work situation has become intolerable. The boss is a tyrant, or an evil co-worker is constantly waiting behind a cubicle to back stab you, or even, the work load is so overwhelming that it haunts you day and night. This is the point where you need to step back for the proverbial reality check. How much is all this stress, anxiety, worry, covering your bee-hind, etc. etc. actually costing you? Is a bad job worth the cost of your sanity or peace of mind? When we factor in the paycheck divided by the sheer number of hours we have to spend defending ourselves, going to counseling, or any other activity we have to resort to just to keep our head above water, then Houston, we have a problem. Usually, the job costs arent worth it. Its time to get out. But as a wise person once told me: NEVER leave a job until you have another one lined up. It is much harder to try and find work when you arent working, than if you are. Especially now since so many employers are discriminating against the unemployed. So whats the plan, then? The first thing is that you have to actually create a plan. Finding that lucky alignment of planets / moons / stars where you can find the right job at that very right moment is rare indeed. So the trick here is this: The earlier that you realize that job costs are outweighing the pay and start formulating an escape plan, the more success you will have because you will have built a pipeline to a new job faster. Sitting around hoping things will improve is just delaying the inevitable: This aint gonna end well! As soon as things start to get dicey (listen to that inner voice), make sure youve polished off your resume.  Keep going to networking events (and if you havent been in awhile, now is the time!).  Start identifying companies that ARE desirable to work for, and initiate some networking efforts towards contacts at those companies. The best friend you can have in terrible situations like these is your gut instinct.  If something isnt right, youll know it. Ultimately, you and you alone are in charge of your career destiny, so you need to rely on yourself to advocate for your future. And when the job costs outweigh the pay, that is a clear signal that you need to move on to greener pastures. For your own sanity, and personal health.

How to Develop Your C-Level Linkedin Profile

How to Develop Your C-Level Linkedin Profile Your LinkedIn profile can make or break your chances of getting hired. When you are a job seeker looking for a C-level executive position, not only must you have a  LinkedIn profile, but that profile must be outstanding. Your profile should be succinct and to the point, as well as provide critical information upfront so a recruiter doesn’t have to wade through expendable verbiage to get to the details they’re most interested in. Some Critical Components to Optimize LinkedIn Profile Benefits First, you want to include relevant keywords that will help a recruiter find your profile. Review some recent C-level job postings you’re interested in and look for words most frequently used in these postings. Incorporate these words in a natural way in your profile so it will catch recruiters’ attention. Also, make sure to build up your network of connections, as well as give and request recommendations from past employers, co-workers and those who work under you. Recruiters place significant weight on what third-party sources have to say about you and the words they use to describe you. This is valuable information that  paints a picture of your leadership style. Don’t underestimate the importance of the photo you choose for your profile. You are applying for a high-level managerial position, you’re not trying to get a date or impress your buddies. Keep it professional; your photo should depict you looking like you would sitting in your corner office, not on the golf course. Finally, while it may be true you are on LinkedIn for the sole purpose of finding your next C-level opportunity, you definitely do not want to broadcast that fact. You lose your intrigue if  you appear desperate. What Tone Should You Take When LinkedIn Profile Writing? Obviously, your verbiage should be professional, but many professionals agree the tone should be relatively informal. It only makes sense to use first person “I” because you are describing yourself. Even if you hire a  LinkedIn profile writing  service, as many upper-level executives do, the writer should write in first person. Avoid being too wordy, but also being overly dry. Any recruiter who sees your profile will be interested not just in your qualifications, but in your personality. One Special C-level LinkedIn Consideration It may seem counterintuitive, but if you are already employed as a CEO, CFO or COO, it’s a good idea to change your privacy settings to ensure your connections aren’t visible to the public. Doing this is simple. On LinkedIn, you will find a setting that allows you to choose who can see your connections. Change the setting to “just you.” This  protects you from current competitors mining your connections  and gaining insight into professional relationships you’d rather them not know about. Similarly, scroll through your public profile privacy settings and opt out of any that may jeopardize your odds of landing a better position. If, for example, you belong to partisan or controversial groups or organizations, you can opt to keep these off of your public profile. It’s not good enough to simply have a LinkedIn presence. If you’re a C-level professional, your presence should be complete and well-crafted, not simply an afterthought.
